16th online National "Astroparty Baikal" 2020 The first virtual, but 16th National Astroparty Baikal on the topic: "Digital resources to help distance learning in physics and astronomy" was held online and took place on May 30, 2020 through the zoom platform. The event is under the patronage of the Minister of Education and Science and the Mayor of Dolna Mitropolia Municipality, Mrs. Polya Tsonovska. It was included for the 11th time in the National Calendar for events on the interests of children and students of the Ministry of Education and Science for the school year 2019/2020. Partners: Union of Astronomers in Bulgaria, Union of Physicists in Bulgaria, Department of Astronomy, Faculty of Physics, Sofia University, Institute for Space Research and Technology-BAS, Section "Remote Sensing and GIS ", Astronomical Association - Sofia (AAS), NAOP Nicolaus Copernicus ”, Varna. International partners: International Astronomical Union / IAU / -Office of Astronomy for Development, European Astronomical Education Association (EAEA), GTTP - Galileo Teachers Training Program, European Schoolnet EUN (European School Net) -SCIENTIX, UNAWE - UNIVERSE AWARENESS (Awareness of the Universe), SPACE AWARENESS and SPACE EU. There were over 107 teachers of physics and astronomy and Man and Nature from all over the country and over 60 students, as well as guests from the Republic of Northern Macedonia, Nikola Delevski from the high school in Strumica and students. The opening started with a short announcement / presentation - 16 years of Astroparty Baikal and congratulation addresses on behalf of Ms. Albena Toteva, Head of regional management of education for Pleven, presented by senior expert Ms. Yana Licheva and on behalf of the Mayor of Dolna Mitropolia, Mrs. Polya Tsonovska. The participants in the Astroparty were greeted with a virtual musical performance from the bank of the Danube river by the young singer of folk songs Georgi Damyanov from the community center in the village of Baikal. Inspiring and interesting was the lecture "Stars at the end of theirs life" by Nikola Karavasilev, guest lecturer, teacher at Izzi science for kids and PCMG and head of the National Team for olimpiads in Astronomy and Astrophysics. Participants were impressed that the stars are different and we can only see 6,500 with the naked eye and what happens to them in the Main Sequence. Finally we realized that nothing in the universe is eternal - the stars die in different ways, but they die to give birth to others! The next online session was "Astro Workshop" - especially for students, where they were introduced by Ivo Jokin to ancient astronomical instruments from the Museum of Science and Technology in Istanbul, how to make models of "Ordinary Quadrant" from cardboard and straw, as well as digital one with its own smartphones, a model of Jupiter's Galilean satellites of styrofoam balls. Virtual and augmented reality applications, how to observe nature and how to make 3D glasses, luminous constellations and resources for children with visual impairments were demonstrated. At the traditional for Astroparties in Baikal Round table "From teachers to teachers" guest lecturers, teachers presented their experience: Svezhina Dimitrova presented the main goals of CERN and opportunities for participation of Bulgarian teachers in educational programs, Tsetsa Tsolova from MG Botevgrad online learning resources in SCIENTIX, Katya Trifonova, teacher at Sofia University "Stoyan Zaimov", Pleven shared her experience in distance learning and interdisciplinary approach to biology. Nikola Karavasilev presented the National Festival "Science on Stage", various experiences of his students in the festival and the upcoming festival in 2021 in Sevlievo. The host of the 16th online Astroparty Baikal, Ivo Jokin ended with a presentation on the use of various online resources, remote telescopes and mobile applications for working with students. The evening session "Classroom under the stars" started at 9.30 pm, with a fascinating lecture by Chief Assistant Dr. Eva Bozhurova, NAOP "N. Copernicus", Varna on the beginning and development of missile technology, the way of working with the virtual planetarium Stellarium, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lachezar Filchev from Institute of Cosmic Iinvestigations and Thechnologies of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences presented the educational project "Innovative laboratory for studying natural disasters and environmental catastrophes E # KOS_LAB" of NP "Education with Science". The “Online Observation Session” with a remote telescope at the IRIDA Observatory within National Astronomical Observatory at Rozhen aroused expected interest. Velimir Popov, a doctoral student at the University of Shumen "Ep. Konstantin Preslavski" told how the observatory works, demonstrating the remote control of the telescope and a collection of astro photographs. Unfortunately, due to the bad weather in Rozhen, no direct observation was conducted, but Astroparty Baikal will continue in June, when a special online observation session will be organized for students and teachers with the remote telescope of the IRIDA Observatory. Participants had the opportunity to watch online "live" the launch of the Falcon-9 rocket with the Dragon spacecraft of the private company SpaceX. Finally, all participants wished to meet again in 2021 live on the beautiful bank of the Danube near the village of Baikal, Dolna Mitropolia municipality. |
